Frans de la Haye

Frans de la Haye has many functions apart from his work as designer. Among other things, he was a member of the Board of Management of Stichting Industriële Vormgeving (Industrial Design Foundation), Dutch representative on the European committee CASA EUROPEA, member of the Board of Management and head of the Essentials and Mobility design departments at the Design Academy in Eindhoven. He also lectures at various (international) design schools and universities, and is one of the founding fathers of the new faculty of Product Design at Eindhoven University of Technology.Frans de la Haye’s well known designs include the ‘Span bike’ from 1969, the Auronde range of beds (1972/1973) for Koninklijke Auping in Deventer, Shell’s standard petrol station (1986), the Post-Boy for PTT (the Dutch postal authorities) which won the Netherlands Prize 1992 for Best Design Product and the Centennial ergonomic working chair (1996) designed to mark the centenary of Koninklijke Ahrend NV. These products have been designed on his own initiative.
