With over 500 products, he was an omnipresence throughout Denmark. Jensen was admitted at the Royal Danish Academy in 1948 to study furniture design and developed into a specialist in industrial design. In 1952 he was employed at one of the first industrial design studios in the country and soon appointed its director. In 1958 he founded the Jacob Jensen Design studio in Frederiksberg. He later moved with 2 employees to Jyllinge, where he created a design concept for General Electric, which was later realised by Bang & Olufsen and has been a worldwide success.
From 1959 to 1961 Jensen was an assistant professor of industrial design at the University of Chicago. His products are represented in many museums worldwide, of which 15 are in the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
