Luigi Colani (1928), a native-born Berliner, has exerted a strong influence on the international design scene for the past 50 years.
Colani studied aerodynamics at the Sorbonne in Paris and completed his training in California before returning to Europe. He has designed for many well-known manufacturers in the automotive industry, like Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, VW and BMW. From March until December 1968, he was employed as a designer at Kusch+Co. His furniture creations are still hugely popular and are making a comeback.
In 1982, he moved to the Far East where his designs were very successful.
He was appointed to a professorship at the Tong-Ji University in 1995.
He inaugurated the Colani Design Center with a research laboratory in the annexe in Karlsruhe in 2002.
Prof. Luigi Colani is an internationally renowned designer who is still in close contact with the Kusch family.
