Quist set up his own architect’s office in 1960. Since 1995, he has been working with Paul Wintermans as Quist Wintermans Architecten. He was a professor at Eindhoven University of Technology from 1968 to 1975, and government architect from 1975 to 1979. Well-known buildings he designed include the extension of the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo near Arnhem and the Maritime Museum, the Municipal Theatre and the Willemswerf office building, all in Rotterdam.
